As a studio craft artist, my focus is on the relationship between the expression of form and function. I employ time honored methods of joinery as a foundation for my designs. Punctuation, rhythm, and metaphor are all tools I utilize throughout the design and building process. Likening my work to that of a poet, I think of each piece as a poem. Balancing the eye of the viewer, introducing rhythm and form to capture and communicate its sense of purpose. The Haiku poet evokes feelings through sharing an event in writing. The furniture maker, evokes feelings through his use of materials and design.
