2007 Letter from the Director
Dear Friends,

Snow Farm opened its doors in January of 2001 at a time when the world was about to change in unimaginable ways. These past six years we've seen a profound decrease in monies and support for the Arts that has dramatically affected our schools, our arts resources and for many, their personal lives.
Snow Farm has faced these challenges through the hard work and passionate love of so many for this amazing artistic sanctuary. We have grown tremendously in six years to become a strong and thriving arts organization. We would not be here today without the continuous and incredibly generous financial and volunteer support of individuals and businesses in our Pioneer Valley and in our Snow Farm community world wide.

Snow Farm EnrtywayThe director of a beloved local art school wrote the following as their doors closed for the last time. He eloquently summed up the precarious yet critical place that the arts fall within our society.

"The most powerful organizations are those with the support and participation of their community. Arts organizations do not feed the hungry, shelter the homeless or protect a vulnerable population. However, art infuses a soul into a community and is a necessary resource for broadening and enriching the lives of children, families and individuals. Art is an unsung hero that has struggled for millennia for support. Art is personal and public, emotional and political, informative and decorative, as well as wild and crazy at times. Supporting the arts and artists in your community is the most powerful way to make it more than a good and safe place to live; supporting art and artists is the only way to ensure that your community will be a rich, thriving and diverse place to live.
" A. Francis

Snow Farm will continue to grow and to thrive as we, together, take ownership of our wonderful artistic retreat and commit to its future. On behalf of Snow Farm, thank you for your invaluable participation and support. We are looking forward to another great season with you at Snow Farm

My best,
Mary Colwell,
Executive Director
