GLASSBLOWING:
Gabriel Colwell-LaFleur
Glassblowing is an exciting and mesmerizing process,
as you watch the transformation of the glass from glowing
honey to glittering solid. This workshop is for the
beginner as well as intermediates. Students will learn
the use of tools, gathering techniques and how to blow
basic forms such as cups, bowls and paperweights along
with attaching handles and feet. Intermediate students
will build on these techniques and bring their skill
to a higher level. With one-on-one instruction, students
will have an opportunity to complete a number of pieces.

LAMPWORKING:
Solid Figures and Small Vessels at the Torch: Joe
Peters
This class will focus on the making of glass figures
with both soft and borosilicate glass using the Venetian
technique. You will also learn how to blow and form
small hollow vessels of various shapes. We will start
from simple hollow ornaments and move quickly to perfume
bottles and all the way to small goblets. Basic lampworking
experience is helpful. (Tuition, Studio Fee, Room &

METALSMITHING
& JEWELRY CONSTRUCTION: Shayla
Vines
This studio examines the qualities of metal through
the fabrication techniques of heat soldering, cold attachments,
simple metal forging and forming and stone setting.
You will learn about the working characteristics of
precious metals and how to utilize surface embellishments
such as chasing and repousse. This is a unique opportunity
to develop a foundation in metalsmithing and jewelry
with an emphasis on designing objects of personal meaning.

WOODWORKING:
For the Wild Birds: Rolf
Hoeg
Do you have a whimsical spirit? Are you interested in
sculptural and architectural elements? Take this opportunity
to design and build your own bird house. Students will
be introduced to basic joinery and hand shaping techniques
which will encompass both hand and power tools. Design
considerations will include functionality, and the use
of texture and color. Come fly away!

WELDING:
Sculpture and More -Pat
Bennett
A workshop designed to teach the basics of welding,
cutting and bending of steel. Students will learn how
to integrate sheet metals with parts of found objects
to create an outdoor sculpture or functional piece from
an original or copied design. The possibilities are
endless and well within the grasp of the total beginner.

TEXTILE
ART: Alteration Exploration: Dawn Hoeg
In this surface design workshop, we will explore several
techniques to alter or reinvent existing clothing. Students
will learn techniques in bound and clamp dying, block
printing and patterning, embroidery and beading. We
will apply these techniques to clothing; old favorites
or new, supplied by the student. It is recommended that
each student bring 3 to 5 pieces of clothing to work
with.

PHOTOGRAPHY:
Black & White and Digital Darkroom: TBA
Students will use their 35mm mechanical camera and learn
to create excellent black and white prints in the darkroom.
These skills will reinforce content of digital photography
allowing students to make technical and artistic connections
between the two. Emphasis will also be placed on the
use of the computer as a parallel tool to traditional
photographic processes. Scanning film, retouching, burning,
dodging, color correction, and printing will be the
technical focus. We will also discuss and evaluate the
role of the computer in contemporary photography and
compare digital imaging techniques with traditional
